How to Adjust the Pneumatic Wire Peeling Machine (Inner Core & Outer Jacket Stripping)

A Pneumatic Wire Peeling Machine is an automated device that uses compressed air to precisely strip the insulation from the ends of wires and cables. It is specifically designed to efficiently and simultaneously (or sequentially) remove both the outer jacket and the inner core insulation.

1. Working Mechanism

The machine's operation can be summarized in three precise, coordinated steps:

  1. Clamping & Securing: The cable to be processed is placed into a fixture. A pneumatic mechanism then drives the clamping unit to grip the cable securely. This prevents any movement during stripping, ensuring precise cut placement.

  2. Cutting & Stripping:

    • Outer Jacket Stripping: First, a set of circular blades, driven by pneumatic pistons, closes precisely to make a circumferential cut into the cable's outer insulation. The cutting depth is accurately adjustable to ensure only the jacket is scored without damaging the inner cores.

    • Inner Core Stripping: Next, another set of more precise blades (or the same set repositioned under program control) performs a circumferential cut on the exposed inner core insulation. The depth is again carefully controlled to cut the insulation without nicking the metal conductor.

  3. Pulling & Resetting: After the cuts are made, the clamping mechanism pulls the cable backward, or the blades retract, which pulls off the scored sections of the outer jacket and inner insulation. Finally, all pneumatic components return to their starting position, ready for the next cycle.

2. Operating Principle

The core principle is a combination of Pneumatic Drive and Precision Mechanical Control.

  • Power Source: Compressed air (typically 0.5-0.7 Mpa) is controlled via solenoid valves to drive pneumatic cylinders, which provide the motive power for all actions—clamping, cutting, and pulling. The pneumatic system offers fast response, stable force, and clean operation.

  • Control Core: Mechanical limit blocks, pressure regulators, or a simple PLC controller are used to precisely adjust the blade cutting depth, strip length, and the sequence of pneumatic actions. This design ensures consistency and high precision for every strip.

  • Precision Execution: High-precision circular blades are the key components. Their V-shaped openings can adapt to cables of different diameters, ensuring clean, concentric cuts without fraying or scratching the copper strands.

3. Primary Applications

This machine is widely used in electronics manufacturing and electrical assembly fields that require processing multi-core cables, such as:

  • Wire Harness Processing: Essential for producing automotive wiring harnesses, appliance harnesses, and industrial equipment harnesses.

  • Electrical Assembly & Repair: Used for quickly preparing wire ends for connections.

  • Communication Equipment Manufacturing: Processing network cables and communication wires.

  • Laboratories & R&D: Provides fast and precise wire preparation for prototyping and small-batch production.

Key Advantages:

  • High Efficiency: Significantly faster than manual stripping, greatly boosting production rates.

  • High Precision: Produces clean, consistent cuts and lengths, prevents conductor damage, and ensures product quality.

  • Strong Adaptability: Can be easily adjusted to handle different cable specifications.

  • Easy Operation: Reduces operator skill requirements and labor intensity.
